ECCAO Arts Academy proudly introduces (Rouh Masr Choir), a performing art initiative designed to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of Egyptian music through the talents of youth and adults (both genders) of Ottawa’s Egyptian community.
Joining this choir does not require previous experience in singing but a passion for music and teamwork. The choir will meet on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to rehearse a selection of both classic and contemporary Egyptian songs, as decided by the group. There will be a choir leader to help the choir with their rehearsal and performance. Gatherings will have a casual dress code (e.g., white top and jeans, yellow top and jeans, red top and jeans, etc.), complementing the informal yet organized style of the performances. Lyrics will be provided in advance, and rehearsals will include live accompaniment by musical instruments. Each session will conclude with a one-hour rehearsal, followed by a recorded performance that will be shared on ECCAO’s social media platforms.
